European Research and Innovation Days is the European Commission’s annual flagship Research and Innovation event, bringing together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond. This year, it is a fully virtual event, with the Policy conference and the Science is Wonderful! online exhibition.

Fun online activities as introduction to research

Science is Wonderful! will feature fun and educational online activities that introduce visitors to the latest cutting-edge research taking place throughout Europe and the rest of the world. This year, the event will be open to schools and public from all over Europe through a dedicated online platform, where they will be able to meet and talk to researchers, ask them questions, perform their own scientific experiments and play games in different languages.

Two research projects from SMHI

SMHI will be present at the event with two research project from the Rossby Centre: CRESCENDO, with the CRESCENDOschools activity and OSeaIce.

"Back in June there was a call from the EC to apply to be present at the Science is Wonderful! exhibition. Over 400 projects applied, but only 40 were selected. We were very pleased to find out our projects were in!"  say Helena Martins and David Doquier from the Rossby Centre.

Spectacular online exhibitions

Helena and David have visited the online exhibition pavilions with their avatars and can confirm it looks spectacular!

"This event might be a turning point in how conferences and exhibitions will be like in the future", says Helena Martins.
