By entering an international development cooperation with SMHI, SHS hopes to strengthen their institutional sustainability as well as develop their capacity within NMHS for the provision of improved key services to the public. The inception phase aimed to assess the current status of operational hydrological and meteorological services at SHS. The overall objectives of the inception phase were to define the baseline of current operations at SHS and co-design an implementation plan for a longer-term development cooperation between SMHI and SHS geared towards strengthening hydrological and meteorological services in Moldova. The project was funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
The inception phase resulted in a project proposal for an implementation phase submitted to Sida Moldova in June 2023. The proposal is currently being processed and the project is estimated to start during late spring 2024 under the name NMHS Moldova.
