Fields of work

I am an ecosystem modeler, interested on the links between hydrodynamics and the biogeochemical cycle of nutrients and how those can affect important biological processes as primary production, eutrophication, macrolgae dynamics and higher trophic levels growth as bivalve’s, shellfish and fish. I use numerical models to understand these links, help finding hints to answer specific questions and hopefully project changes into the future.

I am currently working on the development and implementation of the carbonate system into the SCOBI model coupled to the NEMO-nordic configuration, to study the acidification topic in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

Research interests

  • Ecosystems dynamics: physical, biogeochemical and ecological processes

  • Dynamic Energy Budget theory to describe organism’s metabolism

  • Causes and consequences of changes in the ecosystem dynamics: climate, pollution, natural

  • Use of modelling tools to support management decisions
