In the Skagerrak there was a diatom bloom. Dinoflagellates were not very abundant. In the Kattegat the diatom bloom developed and the potentially toxic Dinophysis acuminata decreased from very high numbers. Chrysochromulina spp. was present but not in high numbers. In the Baltic the plankton flora was poor. Cyanobacteria start to increase.
