The indicators for ice and bottom oxygen have been recalculated owing to an error
For the ice indicators it was a rounding error and the differences from the old values are therefore mostly small, but they can be large fractions of the change in basins with little ice. For bottom oxygen the areas were calculated in an erronous way, and the errors are substantial in many basins.
About indicator data downloaded before 3 November 2025:
- These data should be replaced with new data for these indicators.
- Any calculation based on the indicators should be remade.
- If the only conclusion drawn is that "sea-ice will diminish in the future" then this conclusion is still valid.
