The Rossby Centre at SMHI pursues research on climate processes and the behaviour of the climate system. Our main tools are the global and regional climate models developed within the research unit. Work is conducted both on model development and evaluation of data, as well as modelling applications for process studies and climate change research in support of impact and adaptation studies.

Advancing climate analysis for climate services

SMHI is mandated to provide climate information and produce the data needed to adapt Swedish society to the ongoing climate change in a user-adapted and science based manner and to reduce vulnerability for society.

Downscaling of climate scenarios and support for climate impacts and adaptation

During the recent years a large number of downscaled climate change scenarios for different regions worldwide were generated and made openly available.
