Oceanographic Research

The SMHI oceanographic research group has expertise in a wide range of ocean science fields such as numerical modelling, remote sensing, marine biology and marine observations. The research cover short-term forecasts of e.g. currents, sea level, ice cover and oil-drift spill, to climate change impacts on the sea and the marine ecosystem. The work aims for state-of-the-art development of ocean operational and climate models and provision of decision support for ocean management and protection, and climate services.
