The two projects will contribute to the medium- to long-term development of CAMS production systems and products and will develop new prototypes of CAMS services, beyond the current state of the art.
CAMEO project
The CAMEO (CAMS Service Evolution) project will improve the quality and efficiency of the CAMS service and help CAMS better meet policy needs, such as monitoring air pollution and greenhouse gases, meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, and sustainable and clean energy. CAMEO focuses on preparing for new satellite data, improving the data assimilation and inversion capabilities of the CAMS production system and providing uncertainty information for CAMS global and regional products.
CAMEO is coordinated by ECMWF, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. The project runs from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025. https://www.cameo-project.eu/
CAMAERA project
The CAMAERA (CAMS AERosol Advancement) project will lead to significant improvements in the aerosol modelling capabilities of the regional and global systems, through the assimilation of new data sources and better representation of secondary aerosols and their precursor gases.
CAMAERA is coordinated by the French HYGEOS. The project runs from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026.
Project funding
Both projects are funded by Horizon Europe.
