This network gathers together the European modelling community working on understanding and predicting climate variability and change. IS-ENES3 combines expertise in climate modelling, computational science, data management and climate impacts.
IS-ENES3 supports the ENES portal on which more information on community, services, models, data and computing can be found.
IS-ENES3 is divided into three main objectives:
Pursue the integration of the Earth’s climate system modelling community and will prepare the sustainability of its infrastructure.
Foster the common development of models and tools, and the efficient use of HPC.
Support the exploitation of model data by the Earth system science community, the climate change impact community and the climate service community.
In WP3/NA2 SMHI will organise a technical workshop on meta-data for climate indices and otherwise contribute to networking activities. SMHI will co-lead WP5/NA4, WP6/SA1 and provide the services for EC-Earth, one of the ESMs covered by the work package. In WP7/SA2 SMHI will provide support services to the international CORDEX community, contribute to the development of ESMValTool in WP9/JRA2 and develop tools for managing data requests for climate indices and related metadata in WP10/JRA3.
The project is led by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France) and the Consortium comprises 22 partners from 11 countries. The complete list of project partners can be found.
IS-ENES2 is a project funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 824084.
IS-ENES3 will run from January 2019 to December 2022.
