Fields of work

Development of direct and inverse aerosol optics models, with the goal to evaluate and constrain aerosol microphysics and transport models with remote sensing observations. Development of methods for assimilating satellite observations in chemical transport and air-quality forecasting modelling systems.

Research interests

  • Aerosol optics and radiative transfer
  • Data assimilation and inverse modelling
  • Effects of aerosols on climate

Special competences

Adjunct professor at Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg). Journal editor for Scientific Reports, associate editor for Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer; formerly editor for Applied Optics. Project leader/work package leader in ~10 projects. Expert reviewer for German Research Foundation (DFG). Opponent/Examiner at several PhD and Habilitation defences. Member of award committee for Elsevier’s van de Hulst Light Scattering Award for Landmark Lifetime Achievements.
