For the third time, SMHI is co-organizing The Swedish Climate Symposium. The symposium is an opportunity for researchers, policymakers, and societal stakeholders to meet and learn about the latest Swedish climate research. The next symposium will take place in Lund in May 2026, and those who are interested can already submit their contributions in the form of abstracts.

The Swedish Climate Symposium serves as a national platform for advancing climate knowledge and driving action. It brings together researchers, policymakers, and societal stakeholders to explore the latest scientific insights, identify knowledge gaps, and explore solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation. Hosted by leading Swedish research organisations, the symposium fosters dialogue across disciplines and sectors to strengthen Sweden’s contribution to global climate efforts.

The 2026 edition, held in Lund on May 20–22, focuses on “Climate Research: Science, Society, Actions.” This theme highlights the need to integrate cutting-edge climate science with societal perspectives and actionable strategies to accelerate climate solutions.

If you see a session in the programme that sounds interesting, do not hesitate to submit your abstract. Also feel free to tell others in your network about this opportunity. In order for your abstract to be approved, you need to upload it via the symposium website by January 30th. After that, the selection committee will read all contributions and return with a decision.
