Regional scale modelling

The air quality research group started with the initial development of the MATCH model in the early nineties. Initially MATCH was developed as a high-resolution regional model for parts of Sweden. Over the years MATCH has been developed and applied on a wide range of scales, for different purposes and over different areas in the world. The main problem areas are listed below.

• Assessment of acid- and base cation deposition in Sweden and Scandinavia

• High resolution studies for parts of Sweden

• Emergency response for nuclear accidents

• Sulfur and nitrogen deposition in South Asia, Africa and South America

• Photochemical oxidants and aerosols over Europe

• Fluxes of greenhouse gases over Eurasia and North Atlantic
