Local scale modelling

Local modelling covers horizontal scales from some tens of kilometers down to a few meters, in other words applications within urban areas and inside microenvironments around point sources, in street canyons and close to roads.

Main tools are dispersion models of Gaussian type (e.g. AIRVIRO, DISPERSION) and street models like OSPM. CFD modelling is also used for 3D simulations in complex geometry. Meteorological information from weather forecast models and surface measurements are preprocessed to yield information concerning stability and mixing heights.
