InformationThe Hydrological Data Centre for BALTEX (BALTEX HDC) is a Swedish contribution to the international BalticSea Experiment BALTEX as a part of the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment GEWEX of the WCRP (World Climate Research Programme). SMHI hosts the BALTEX Data Centre for hydrology with the main objective to collect, store and distribute hydrological data, and information, from the BALTEX region to the BALTEX scientific community. The BHDC data base today consists of :
The data collected by the BHDC is supplied mainly by the different
national institutes in the countries participating in BALTEX. The
structure of the daily runoff data base is identical to the one that
SMHI currently use for the Swedish national runoff network. In that
way BHDC can benefit from any progress being made to the current data
base structure at SMHI. Meta data and other hydrological data
are stored in a different databases designed solely for these purposes.
Detailed information on the contents of the BALTEX HDC, including
data from dense networks in four specific basins, will continuously
become available at Search the data
bank. Other hydrological data that will be collected are: snow equivalent of water, soil moisture, information on ground water, ice observations, lake levels, lake and river temperature. These data will be collected from the contributing national institutes as available. |
