Size: Length 30-40 µm, width 35-40 µm.

Distinctive features: Gymnodinioid cell with two siliceous internal skeletons (=pentasters). Prominent bundle of extrusomes (docidosomes)

Distribution: Subtropical to cold temperate waters. Even in arctic freshwater lakes
