Data host for oceanography and marine biology

SMHI is appointed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket) to be the national and regional data host for marine physical, chemical and biological data. The data host stores and obtain data from the Swedish environmental monitoring and biological inventories. Data is stored in Svenskt HavsARKiv (SHARK).

All data and metadata that the data host (SMHI) publish on this web site is to be considered as public and official, to be used freely for everyone.

SMHI is Sweden's largest producer of physical, chemical and oceanographic data, and a large producer of marine biological data.
