ECDS – Environment Climate Data Sweden

ECDS, Environment Climate Data Sweden, is an infrastructure to support Swedish research within the environment and climate areas.

The purpose of ECDS is to improve access to data for researchers who need data from the fields of environment and climate. ECDS will make it easier for researchers to access existing data within and outside the country, and also provide support and advice in data issues throughout the research process.

ECDS Data Portal

In ECDS data portal the visitors can search among research data, often published with open access. Anyone can register to the portal and publish and upload metadata and research data. The ECDS data portal is available on www.ecds.se.

In the data portal there is more information on e.g. metadata profiles, licensing and data management, all available to researchers.

Support to Researchers

ECDS offers support to researchers in questions about data management. ECDS gives advice and recommendations on data standards, data communication, and long-time archiving of data.

The overall goal for ECDS is to make it easier for researchers to share and benefit from each other's research. The data portal will gather knowledge in the environment and climate fields, and that can contribute to strengthen Swedish research.

Organisation and Governance

ECDS is financed by the Swedish Research Council. Since June 2016 the data portal is hosted by the Swedish National Data Service at Gothenburg University.

The ECDS board is appointed by SMHI and the Swedish Research Council in cooperation. ECDS is supported by a Scientific Advisory Committee.

ECDS is an ordinary member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) World Data System, ICSU-WDS.
