IMPREX will be working with effects and extremes to improve weather and climate forecasts and future high-resolution meteorological images of extreme weather events such as flooding and drought. The project includes both global and regional climate modelling. Researchers at SMHI will make high-resolution scenarios for different areas in Europe using their HARMONIE model.
IMPREX is coordinated by the Dutch weather service KNMI and there are more than twenty European institutions involved apart from SMHI, including the European meteorological institute ECMWF. The project is funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 research programme.
