In Skagerrak and Kattegat, nutrient conditions were normal for the season. In the Baltic Proper concentrations of phosphate and silicate were higher than normal in the southern and western parts, while inorganic nitrogen showed normal values. Hypoxic conditions were found at depths exceeding 60 meters in the southern parts and from 70-80 meters in the remaining parts of the Baltic Proper. In the Bornholm Basin as well as in the Hanö Bight the oxygen in the bottom water was almost zero. Anoxic conditions were found at depths deeper than 90-100 meters.
