The main purpose of our research and development projects is to develop and pass on new methods to SMHI’s operational divisions.

The unit for Hydrological Research works in Sweden, Europe and worldwide with developing forecast and scenario tools for water and waterborne nutrients, describing the hydrological consequences of climate change as well as developing better tools for modelling of water quality and nutrient transport in waterways.
Among other things, the work done here is used to improve forecasting for hydrological (flood) warning services and the hydropower industry and to make decisions regarding remedial measures to achieve good environmental status in rivers, lakes and the ocean.
We are now looking to employ 2 new hydrological scientists in permanent positions at our Norrköping office starting 1 September 2011 or earlier.
Your profile
We are looking for goal oriented colleagues, passionate about their work, who can work both independently and with others. You should be a good communicator, in both spoken and written English and you should be willing and able to learn Swedish (to use Swedish language in everyday office communication) within 1 year of starting the position.
Your background should include tertiary level studies in hydrology and other relevant subjects including hydraulics, soil or river chemistry, limnology or agricultural science. It is an advantage if you have research and scientific publication experience, i.e. a doctoral degree, or experience in project management, programming, statistics, dynamic modelling, or GIS.
