Quality Management

Quality issues are a integral part of SMHI's management system, which has been certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards since 2003. SMHI's Oceanographic Laboratory was accredited for water sampling and analysis back in 1994. The most important aspect in the lab's work is the staff's knowledge, interest and dedication.

The quality management system, like the environmental management system, is an integral part of the management work at all levels within SMHI. The approach to quality is described in SMHI's remit as:

SMHI's products and services shall be characterised by the fact that they competitively fulfil the agreed quality and always constitute a recommendation for new assignments and new business.

SMHI shall be receptive to the reactions of customers and the general public, as these can contribute to continuous improvement of products, services and processes. Our ISO 9001 certification helps to maintain a vibrant, active improvement process.

In addition to ISO 9001, SMHI's Oceanographic Laboratory in Gothenburg is accredited to SS-EN ISO/IEC 17025.
