European Meteorological Institutes gather in Norrköping

Representatives from 29 national weather services are gathered in Norrköping this week. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, hosts a meeting for Eumetnet.

The Eumetnet is a collaboration between the national weather institutes in order to become more effective, including sharing costs and manage common issues within Europe. The cooperation is related to both observations, forecasting and climate services.

It is approximately 45 representatives of Eumetnet who meet in Norrköping April 7-9, in working groups focusing on scientific & technology and policy & financial issues.

– One of the most important issues that will be discussed is the new organisation for air traffic control in Europe and the effects it has for us as suppliers of aviation weather services, says SMHI's Director General Lena Häll Eriksson, Chairman of the Policy and Financial Advisory Committee.
